a yellow rose in October

This tiny bush at the end of our driveway is so abused and neglected, and still it managed to produce one perfect rose in the middle of a damp stormy October. Bright and miraculous, it is a tiny bit of the sun’s energy transformed into a small beacon of life as if the poor little bush saved all of its summer to pronounce its determination and hope, a shout of spirit I have to share.

  1. I love your description of this– it’s as lovely as the rose itself.
